Collages / 2016
For the collages below I used heads of prophets from woodcuts by Gustave Dorée, layered them on top of each other and cut pieces of the illustrations out. By layering the pages with holes on top of each other, small pond-like shapes came into being. At the same time, I glued the shapes that I had previously cut out on top of each other creating hills. The result is an abstract landscape holding a variety of textures and patterns that speak for the deep faith religious and devout people have in the prophets they only ever read about, yet know with a certainty that those same prophets have achieved greatness like no one that came after them.
